Bing hits number 2 in search

The latest search engine usage numbers are in and Microsoft's Bing has moved up the ladder by passing Yahoo. However, this result is to be expected due to a deal between Microsoft and Yahoo last year which sees Yahoo now using Bing for their searches.

The change over has only happened in the US and Canada so far. The rest of the world is to follow at a later date.

Over at Google, their search share also increased slightly and actually pulled further ahead of Bing.

The results for the top 3 search engines for the month of August, according to market watcher Nielson, are as follows:

Google: 65% (up from 64.2%)
Bing: 13.9% (up from 13.6%)
Yahoo: 13.1% (down from 14.6%)
