Patch Tuesday June 2011 Report

This month's Patch Tuesday brings with it patches for 34 vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, Office and other software. Microsoft labeled 15 of them as "critical", 17 were listed as "important" and two were "moderate". 11 of the patches were for Internet Explorer, four of which also affect Microsoft's latest version 9. Several of these vulnerabilities could be exploited by simply visiting a malicious website.

Other patches include eight updates for Microsoft Excel. Only one of these affects the 2007 and 2010 versions, but two of them also affect Excel 2011 on the Mac. There were also updates and patches for SQL Server, Silverlight and of course Windows itself in what was the second largest Patch Tuesday so far this year.

Adobe also released an update to Adobe Reader, and there was one from Oracle for Java as well.
