What is Business Critical Data?

Business critical data is any kind of information or data that a business would not be able to recover if it was lost. This could include things such as:

  • Customer information
  • Financial records
  • Emails
  • Sales records
  • Human resource information
  • Inventory
  • Specification documents
  • Vendor/Supplier contacts and information
Basically any kind of data that cannot be replaced would count as business critical data.

The information could be lost through computer failures, fire or other natural disasters, theft or even human error. If you think about what could be lost from any of these factors, you can determine what data is critical to your business.
