Remove Folder Protection

Protected Directories allow you to protect content on a website with a username and password. This is useful if there is information or a section of the website you only want certain people to be able to access.

You can enable protection on any existing folder on your site or create a new folder to be protected.

To set up a protected directory, click on the Protected Directories icon from your control panel.

Click on the Add New Directory icon.

Type in the name and path of the folder you want to protect. These folders will be under the httpdocs folder. There is no need to type in /httpdocs first. For example, typing in /protected sets up a protected directory called protected and it is located at /httpdocs/protected.

Anything placed inside the /protected folder will then require a username and password before it can be accessed. Any subfolders created within this folder will also be protected.

Click OK when the Directory name has been filled out.

Once the protected directory has been setup, you will need to create user access to it. Click on the Add New User icon.

Type in a username and then a secure password and click OK.

You will then see the user access you just created for the protected directory.

Going to the File Manager, you will see the protected folder that was created. This was placed under the httpdocs folder.

When you try and access the folder through a web browser, you will be required to log in with a username and password before being able to view or access anything in that folder.
