Thunderbird 3 Setup

Back to Email Client Setups

Open Mozilla Thunderbird

Click on Tools and select Account Settings.

Select Account Actions and click Add Mail Account

Type in whatever name you would like people to see when you send them an email, and then your email address (username@yourdomain.com) and password. Then click on Continue

Thunderbird will attempt to find your settings, however you should put these in manually, so click Stop. You may need to make sure Incoming has POP selected (IMAP can also be used) and then select Manual Setup

Under Account Settings select Server Settings.

  • Server Name: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Port: 110
  • User Name: username@yourdomain.com
  • Connection security: None
  • Authentication method: Password, transmitted insecurely

Under Account Settings select Outgoing Server (SMTP).

If there is an outgoing server already listed click Edit otherwise click Add.

  • Description: can be whatever you like but specifying your domain is usually most helpful
  • Server Name: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Connection security: None
  • Authentication method: Password, transmitted insecurely
  • User Name: username@yourdomain.com

Click OK and you will have completed the setup
