How to Setup Hosted Exchange on Android Devices

There are two ways to set up Hosted Exchange on an Android device.

To set up Exchange ActiveSync on Android Devices

  1. From the Applications menu, select Email. This application may be named Mail on some versions of Android.
  2. Type your full email address, for example username@yourdomain.com, and your password, and then select Next.
  3. Select Exchange account. This may be named Exchange ActiveSync on some versions of Android.
  4. Enter the following account information and select Next.
    • Domain\Username Type your full email address in this box. If Domain and Username are separate text boxes in your version of Android, leave the Domain box empty and type your full email address in the Username box.
    • Note On some versions of Android, you need to use the domain\username format. For example, if your email address is username@yourdomain.com, type yourdomain.com\username@yourdomain.com. Your username is your full email address.
    • Password This is the password for the email account.

  5. As soon as your phone verifies the server settings, the Account Options screen displays. The options available depend on the version of Android on your device. The options may include the following:
    • Email checking frequency The default value is Automatic (push). When you select this option, email messages will be sent to your phone as they arrive.
    • Amount to Synchronize This is the amount of mail you want to keep on your mobile phone. You can choose from several length options, including One day, Three days, and One week.
    • Notify me when email arrives If you select this option, your mobile phone will notify you when you receive a new email message.
    • Sync contacts from this account If you select this option, your contacts will be synchronized between your phone and your account.
  6. Select Next and then type a name for the account and the name you want displayed when you send email to others. Select Done to complete the email setup and start using your account.
  7. Tip: You may need to wait ten-to-fifteen minutes after you set up your account before you can send or receive email.

POP or IMAP Setup on Android Devices

To set up POP or IMAP on Android Devices

  1. From the home screen, tap Applications then tap Settings then tap Accounts & Sync then tap Add account and choose Manual setup.
  2. On the Incoming settings screen, in the Protocol drop down menu, select IMAP or POP3. We suggest you select IMAP.
  3. In the Email address and Username text boxes, enter your full email address, for example, username@yourdomain.com, and then select Next. Your username is the same as your email address.
  4. In the Password text box, enter your password for the email account.
  5. In the IMAP server or POP3 server text box, enter your IMAP or POP server name. For instructions on finding your server name click here.
  6. In the Security type drop down nemu and Server port text boxes, specify the POP or IMAP settings that were found in step 5, and then tap Next. Your email application will check your IMAP or POP settings.
  7. On the Outgoing server settings screen, the Login required option should be selected for you, and the Username and Password text boxes should be filled in.
  8. In the SMTP server text box, enter the SMTP server name you found in step 5.
  9. In the Security type drop down menu and Server port text box, specify the SMTP settings that you found in step 5, and click Next.
  10. In the Account name text box, enter a name for your account. In the Your name text box, enter the name you want displayed when you send email to others, and then select Finish Setup.
