How to Setup Hosted Exchange on BlackBerry Devices

The BlackBerry devices only have one way to set up Hosted Exchange. You can only set a Hosted Exchange email account up as POP or IMAP on BlackBerry devices.

To setup POP or IMAP on a BlackBerry device.

  1. From the BlackBerry home screen, click BlackBerry Setup then click Set up Internet Email and then select Add an Email Account.
  2. Type your email address and password, and then click Next.
  3. Your BlackBerry will try to set up your email account automatically. If setup completes successfully, skip to step 4. If your email account cannot be configured automatically, do the following:
    • Click I will provide the settings to add this email account.
    • Scroll down, and then click Next.
    • Select Internet Service Provider Email (POP/IMAP), and then click Next.
    • Type your full email address for your user name (for example,
    • Scroll down and type the name of your email server. For instructions on finding your incoming (POP3 or IMAP4) server name click here.
    • Click Next.
    • Enter the name of the outgoing SMTP server. For instructions on finding your server name click here.
  4. Click OK to complete the setup.


Hosted Exchange requires also having a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) in order to use the full Hosted Exchange services.

There is an app that will allow you to set a different tone for every friend, family member, or colleague in your address book. You can also use the app to set a tone for a specific domain.
